“Tempest” follows renowned U.N. ambassador Moon-ju (Jun Ji-hyun) as she hunts the mastermind behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Standing between her and the truth is Sanho (Gang Dong-won), a shadowy, off-the-books operative tasked with keeping her alive―until the pair collide with a conspiracy big enough to rattle the Korean Peninsula. Episodes 4 and 5, released on the 18th, closed on a swoon-worthy beat that supercharged their long-awaited chemistry.
As the investigation inches closer to the truth, danger escalates and Moon-ju and Sanho retreat to a safe house. Ignoring security chief Chang-hee’s (Joo Jong-hyuk) objections, Moon-ju entrusts her protection to Sanho, a man with no clear past or nationality. Living in close quarters, the two trade suspicion and trust in equal measure. Meanwhile, power broker Im Ok-seon (Lee Mi-sook), who’s backing Moon-ju’s presidential bid, gifts Chang-hee a pricey watch in exchange for intel―casting fresh doubt on her motives.
Right after Moon-ju formally announces her run for president, a massive gas explosion rocks the city, and Sanho narrowly saves her. With danger striking wherever they go, paranoia spreads among Moon-ju’s inner circle, especially Chang-hee. Is Sanho her salvation―or the setup?
Elsewhere, Moon-ju follows an anonymous tip to dig into a secret Jun-ik (Park Hae-joon) has been hiding and comes face-to-face with the enigmatic Kang Han-na (Won Ji-an). Claiming her life with Jun-ik was a lie, Han-na threatens to expose everything. Reeling from the betrayal, Moon-ju moves to sever her deal with Ok-seon, who appears to have known the truth all along. With twists at every turn, the question isn’t just what Moon-ju will choose―but what monumental truths she’ll confront next.
When Moon-ju tries to blow the whistle on a looming, faceless “shadow war,” unknown assailants gun her down, forcing her and Sanho to vanish off the grid. Inside a secret hideout, the two lower their guards, trade truths―and let a slow-burn spark catch fire, making hearts flutter worldwide.
Viewers raved about Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won’s seamless chemistry and the slick, eye-popping action, while buzzing about the sprawling mystery set to unfold as more secrets surface.
