Set to premiere this June on SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama slot, "Our Movie" (written by Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min, directed by Lee Jung-heum) tells the urgent love story between a film director, Lee Je-ha (played by Namkoong Min), who has no tomorrow, and an actress, Lee Da-eum (played by Jeon Yeo-been), who lives as if today is her last.
"Our Movie" is drawing significant attention for the pairing of Namkoong Min, known for his unique character portrayals, and Jeon Yeo-been, who has shown a wide range of acting skills. Adding to the anticipation, director Lee Jung-heum, known for his stylish cinematography in dramas like "Inspector Koo," "Nobody Knows," and "Falsify," is at the helm, promising a fantastic synergy. Amid high expectations for this collaboration, the passionate table read session has captured the audience's attention.
At the table read, director Lee Jung-heum, writers Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min, along with Namkoong Min, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Seol (playing Chae Seo-young), and Seo Hyun-woo (playing Boo Seung-won), among others, gathered to fine-tune their chemistry. As the reading began, the actors deeply immersed themselves into their characters, filling the room with intense emotion.
Namkoong Min naturally conveyed the sensitivity of film director Lee Je-ha, who embarks on a new project to overcome his past traumas. His commanding voice shouting "Action," "Cut," and "Okay" vividly brought to life the image of Lee Je-ha directing a film.
Jeon Yeo-been, playing the role of Lee Da-eum, an aspiring actress battling a rare disease, captured the character's lovable aspects with her lively dialogue. Her vibrant tone, gestures, and bright smile infused the scene with energy.
Lee Seol, as the top movie star Chae Seo-young, skillfully navigated her character's emotions, displaying a star's poise and complex feelings towards Lee Je-ha.
Seo Hyun-woo, playing the film producer Boo Seung-won, exuded a bold charm. His straightforward response during a budget negotiation, "Just spend it," prompted director Lee Jung-heum to jokingly express his desire to work with such a producer, eliciting laughter.
Thus, "Our Movie" boasted a warm and friendly atmosphere from the get-go, thanks to the actors' passion. Notably, the melodramatic chemistry between Namkoong Min and Jeon Yeo-been, portraying a film director and a terminally ill actress falling in love while making a movie, was particularly moving. The actors' seamless collaboration also highlighted the authentic relationships among characters who share a love for cinema.
After the table read, Namkoong Min shared, "I believe this will be a great drama. If you're waiting for a well-made drama, make sure to watch it." Jeon Yeo-been added, "I'm both nervous and excited to start filming. We'll be bringing you the gift-like drama 'Our Movie' soon," raising expectations for the show.
"Our Movie," a heart-wrenching melodrama about a film director and actress who cannot delay love, will follow the currently airing "The Haunted Palace" and premiere this June.
