Today, March 14, at 6 PM, Bong Joon-ho's appearance on the soccer YouTube channel 'Dalsu Live,' hosted by soccer commentator Park Moon-sung, will be released.
Director Bong Joon-ho is well-known in the film industry as a 'soccer fanatic.' He has openly expressed his admiration for Manchester City's midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and recently highlighted FC Barcelona's forward Lamine Yamal during his recent appearance on 'Son Seok-hee's Questions.'
Both in Korea and abroad, Bong Joon-ho has consistently mentioned his love for soccer in interviews for 'Mickey 17,' even lamenting that his publicity team would not let him appear on soccer YouTube channels. Now, he has finally gotten the chance to talk about soccer as much as he wants. His appearance on 'Dalsu Live,' where he converses with soccer experts, marks the fulfillment of his dream as a 'successful fan.'
During the recording, Bong Joon-ho enthusiastically shared his love and knowledge of soccer with Park Moon-sung and columnist Kim Hyun-min. It is reported that aside from mentioning the challenges of supporting different teams with assistant directors on set in the UK, the conversation was entirely focused on soccer.
He discussed iconic moments in World Cup history from the 1970s to the present and shared stories about Kevin De Bruyne, affectionately known as 'Deok-bae' among Korean fans.
Bong Joon-ho also addressed the speculation that the film's title 'Mickey 17' was inspired by Kevin De Bruyne's jersey number. Viewers can look forward to his candid confessions about why he loves soccer and the moments he cherishes. Originally planned as a single episode, the content was so extensive that a second episode will be uploaded on March 21 at 6 PM.
