The occult film 'The Savior' (literal title), starring actors Kim Byung-chul and Song Ji-hyo, has wrapped up filming.
'The Savior' is an occult film that tells the story of a family's struggle to escape a horrific curse that comes as the price for a desperately wished-for miracle. With its intriguing premise of a miracle coming at the cost of a dreadful curse, and the casting of Kim Byung-chul and Song Ji-hyo, the film is anticipated to continue the Korean occult trend sparked by films like 'The Wailing' and 'Exhuma.' The first stills released with the wrap-up news capture new sides of Kim Byung-chul and Song Ji-hyo.
Kim Byung-chul, known for his outstanding performances across various genres in dramas like 'Doctor Cha,' 'SKY Castle,' 'Descendants of the Sun,' 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,' and 'Mr. Sunshine,' takes on the role of 'Young-beom.' Young-beom is a character who struggles to protect his family from a curse that comes as the price of an astonishing miracle.
Kim Byung-chul shared his thoughts on completing filming, saying, "The chemistry between the actors was great, making it an enjoyable filming experience. I'm excited to see how the great on-set chemistry will translate into the film."
The role of 'Young-beom's wife, 'Sun-hee,' is played by the versatile actress Song Ji-hyo, who has won the hearts of audiences through her work in films, dramas, and television shows. After experiencing the miracle she longed for, Sun-hee witnesses the terrifying curse that follows.
Song Ji-hyo expressed her excitement about the project, saying, "I was constantly amazed by the performances of my fellow actors. I wondered if such perfect chemistry could exist. I'm especially looking forward to showcasing my new character in this film," hinting at a powerful transformation in her acting.
The film is directed by Shin Joon, who previously won the Daemyung Culture Wave Award at the 21st Busan International Film Festival for his film 'Yongsoon.'
'The Savior' is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in 2025.
